Let me start by saying that eating wild game is the ultimate reward from endless hours sitting in a deer stand or hiking miles in to hunting camp to find that big ol'buck. Gear Hunter would like to share a favorite recipe from the vault. This recipe using venison is sure to find its way to the front of your recipe box. Put these meatballs in spaghetti or as we do and make meatball sliders. Either way, this is a great way to use your ground venision after all the steaks and roast are gone.
Lets start by chopping the peppers, onions and fresh garlic(replacing garlic salt).
Now put your ground meat, fresh vegies, eggs and seasonings in a large bowl and mix until everything combines together.
Now roll the mixture into 2 inch balls and place in a baking dish that has been sprayed with cooking spray. Place baking dish in a preheated 375 degree oven for 30-35 minutes turning halfway through. You can also cook them in your favorite sauce in a slow cooker for 8 hours on low.
Once your meatballs are done its time to create the dish desired. See below some meatball sliders. For best results: Cut a whole loaf of Hawaiian Rolls in half. Take the top section and set to the side. Next, remove enough meatballs and cut in half an place one half on each roll. Cover the meatballs with a spoonfull of sauce and cover the entire tops with sliced mozzerella cheese. Place the top half of the bread back on top. Wipe on melted butter and sprinkle with oregano and parmesan cheese and place back in the over until the cheese is melted. Once melted, remove from the oven, cut, serve and enjoy!
